How do I get deep wrinkles out of cotton venetian blinds?

I've lived in my place for almost a year. I've finally taken down the venetian blinds to clean them and get the wrinkles out that have been there since the previous owners lived here. It turns out they're incredibly clean, it's the wrinkles that make them look dirty. I pulled out the iron, threw a wet towel under the blind and went at it. I've had no luck.
